"The only way of transcending these rival catholicities that actually divide and conquer is by recognizing once again that genuine catholicity is determined by the Word of God, which relativizes all of our locations. Ironically, by carving the church into niche markets, emphasizing the ostensible uniqueness of each local culture, generation, ethnic, and socioeconomic status, we end up knowing more about ourselves and those who are like us than we do about the faith that we share with martyrs in China and Nigeria. Consequently, in all of this fascination with the context of our ministry, we are less likely to recognize the ways in which we systematically misinterpret that word." - Michael Horton in People and Place: A Covenant Ecclesiology
