Christ the Shepherd Church will partner with parents in educating, disciplining, modeling, and nurturing God's covenant children in the ways of the Lord.


"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6


PURPOSE OF CHILDREN'S CHURCH

Children’s Church provides an opportunity for children ages 3-Kindergarten to enjoy a more age appropriate time to focus on a Bible lesson/story. This time is a structured, teaching time that helps prepare children to be able to sit through the church service. It also enables the parents of these children to have a more personal, focused time on God’s word during the service. Children are expected to be able to listen quietly during the Bible lesson. They are encouraged to participate in any singing, games, or activities.


PURPOSE OF NURSERY MINISTRY

The Nursery Ministry at Christ the Shepherd church exits to offer a safe, nurturing, loving environment in which infants and toddlers (age 3) can thrive, while their parents are attending church. Our volunteer staff will strive to model Christ’s love and acceptance towards each child, laying a foundation for their future Christian growth. Prayer is our guide in Nursery Ministry, as we partner with parents to help prepare even the littlest ones to stand on the truth of God’s word.

SUNDAY SCHOOL MINISTRY

Sunday School class begins with 3 year olds and continues through high school.  We provide a Nursery for children under 3 years old so that the adults can attend our Adult Sunday School held in the Sanctuary.


Below is a summary of the lessons by class:

Preschool

GOD’S FAMILY - Beginning with the line of promise from Adam through Joseph the children will see God’s covenant love and blessing on his creation.

Young Elementary

GOD LEADS HIS PEOPLE - Children in young elementary will read about God’s thrilling rescue of Israel from Egypt and how the Old Testament points to the Saviour

Older Elementary

GOD’S GRACE IN THE LAW. Students in second and third grade will be studying the book of Exodus and learning how to apply the Ten Commandments to their lives.

Junior High School

MATTHEW THROUGH JOHN - Our Junior High class will be learning about the life, work and teachings of Christ in the Gospels.

Senior High Class

THE MEDIA – Our Senior High class will discuss the wise use of movies, music, and more.
