Welcome to the revamped Christ the Shepherd Church website. I see that you’ve made it all the way back here to the blog page, and I’m glad you’re here! It has always been a desire of mine to have a blog called “My Back Pages”. We could have called it “From the Pastor’s Desk” or “From the Pastor’s Heart” or just “Blog” and that would have been fine. But I like the titular Dylan song, especially the quotation, Ah, but I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now.
That line reminds me of the text I’ve been using for the benediction during our worship service the past few months:
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. (I Corinthians 4:16-18).
This weblog will be our weekly cup of coffee, where we will comment on things related to Christ the Shepherd — events on the church calendar, snippets that could/should have been said better during the sermons, CtS philosophy of worship and ministry, some history of our church, etc. Most likely there will also be music and book reviews, occasional cultural commentary, and such.
Perhaps you are a Christ the Shepherd member, or someone looking for a church home, or someone whose life has intersected with mine somewhere in the past. Whoever you are, you are among friends and I hope you return. There’s always a place for you here in these back pages.
